Free Premium by Inviting Friends: The Referral Program
Share one link. Every friend who lists a server that passes review earns you a token, and tokens buy real premium time on your own listing — Platinum for one, Diamond for two.
Premium costs money. It does not have to cost your money. If you know other people running Discord communities — and if you run one, you do — the referral program turns those introductions into free premium time on your own listing.
How it works, in three lines
- Share your link. Every account has one, at thediscordlist.com/referrals.
- A friend lists a server through it. Once that listing passes review, you earn one token.
- Spend tokens on a temporary premium tier for a listing you own.
No quotas, no tiers of ambassador, no minimum payout. One approved listing, one token.

Your link
Your referrals page gives you two forms of the same thing:
- A code, like
ABCD1234— short enough to paste into a Discord message. - A link,
thediscordlist.com/r/YOURCODE(or?ref=YOURCODEon any page) — click it and the code rides along in the visitor's session until they publish something.
Both work. The link is friendlier, because your friend never has to remember anything: they click, they browse, they list their server, and the credit attaches itself. If they arrived some other way, they can still type your code into the create-listing form by hand — the field is right there in the flow.
Either way, attribution happens when the listing is published, not when the link is clicked. A click that goes nowhere costs you nothing and earns you nothing.
What counts
A referral is recorded when someone who came through your code publishes a listing. It sits as Pending review until a moderator looks at it, and only an approved referral earns a token.
That review exists for the obvious reason: without it, the program would be a machine for generating empty servers. Referrals get declined for the same things any listing gets declined for —
- A dummy or inactive server made only to farm a token
- A misleading or spammy listing
- A broken or expired invite
- Rule or content violations
- A duplicate of an existing listing
Two limits worth stating plainly: you cannot refer yourself, and each listing can only be referred once. Referring people who were going to list anyway is the whole idea; manufacturing listings is not, and it does not survive review.
Spending tokens
Tokens buy temporary premium on one of your own listings:
| Reward | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Platinum | 1 token | 2× bump points, 14 days |
| Diamond | 2 tokens | 3× bump points, 14 days |
Pick the reward, pick which of your listings it applies to, and activate. The grant starts immediately and runs for 14 days, then the listing falls back to whatever it pays for — or to free.

A few details that matter:
- A grant is a real tier, not a discount code. Every premium feature at that tier unlocks for the duration.
- It stacks the sensible way. If a listing already pays for a tier, the stronger of the two applies — a Platinum grant on a Diamond subscription changes nothing, so spend it elsewhere.
- Grants apply to bots too, not just servers.
- Your balance is earned minus spent, and it never expires. Save two tokens for Diamond if you would rather.
Getting the most out of it
- Share it where community owners already are — server-owner Discords, the support server, a friend group that all run something.
- Ask people who were going to list anyway. The token is a bonus for an introduction, not a bribe for a fake server.
- Send the link, not the code. Fewer steps, fewer mistakes, and it survives them wandering the site for ten minutes first.
- Time your redemption. Fourteen days of doubled bump points is worth more during a push — a new season, an event, a relaunch — than during a quiet fortnight.
- Check the page occasionally. Pending referrals become tokens when they clear review, and you get a notification when one does.
Where to start
Open your referrals page, copy the link, and send it to one person who runs a server. That is the entire onboarding.
Not listed yourself yet? List your server first — it takes about two minutes, and you will want somewhere to spend the tokens.
