Best Open Source Discord Servers

Open source Discord servers come in two shapes. Project servers belong to a specific tool, and that is where maintainers triage issues, discuss proposals and point new contributors at something small to start with. General open source servers are broader, covering licensing questions, self-hosting, packaging, funding and maintainer burnout, plus people looking for a project to join.

If you want to start contributing, look for a server with a channel dedicated to good first issues and someone who actually reviews pull requests. Hacktoberfest season fills these communities with beginners, and the ones with real mentoring handle it far better than the ones without.
