About Gamedev Discord servers

Gamedev servers come in three shapes. Engine communities for Unity, Unreal and Godot answer technical questions and are usually the fastest place to unstick a bug. Discipline servers focus on art, animation, audio or design, with critique channels where you post work in progress. General gamedev hangouts are where solo devs keep daily progress logs and talk about marketing, wishlists and shipping.

Game jams pull it together, with team-forming channels before an event and playtesting after. If you are starting out, look for a help channel with people actually answering and rules about recruitment, since most established servers ban unpaid revenue-share posts from someone with only an idea.
